Never-Ending Story Thailand’s Materials Today & Tomorrow

2022

While lowering its footprints has been handled for ages, Thailand transforms a “take-make-waste” economy model into circular economic (CE) approach, and opens for huge opportunities for investment in the country’s waste hierarchy.
The Board of Investment of Thailand reports that in 2018, only 25% of the plastic waste was recycled from 22 million tons of industrial waste, also 27 million tons of municipal solid waste from Thailand’s domestic consumption. This waste management gap leaves such a great value for those who seek their way into “Closing the loop” business opportunities. Apart from the Roadmap on Plastic Waste Management to replace single-use plastic products with environmentally-friendly alternatives, big names, experts, industry associations, small businesses, and entrepreneurs in Thailand incorporate this CE idea into their operations and innovation.
The Creative Economy Agency; CEA, as one of the participants in this 2022’s “SPIRAL: circular design exhibition”, with Thailand’s large agricultural sector would like to show the collaborative inter-firm relationship built for the endless supply of waste and green consumption trend. “Never-Ending Story: Thailand’s Materials Today & Tomorrow” thus presents the best practice and scenarios of how those abundant agricultural waste are potentially used as raw material for production and as a source of foundation in Thailand’s creative economy.
