More than often, the functions inside a bathroom are designed to separate the “wet space” (the sink area) from the “dry space” (the vanity area where you groom yourself and change clothes). However, if we delve deeper into our daily routine, the functions of these two spaces often overlap. For example, women who have to apply makeup in the morning have to switch back and forth between their vanity area and the sink area to wash their make-up brushes. Lavanity (Lavatory + Vanity) showcases new possibilities to unite these two spaces together. It minimizes space redundancy, and blurs the boundaries between the bathroom and the vanity area, thus offering a more functional space that better suits real-life usage.
